TAFE Outreach programs are closely aligned to the Federal Social Inclusion Agenda ensuring NSW education is accessible to people who face barriers to learning including geographical and social isolation, language and cultural factors, financial hardship, lack of educational confidence, being unaware of opportunities to learn, a disability or family commitments.

Social Inclusion Outcomes

Outcomes for PEET vary according to the individual goals of the students. Those seeking employment pathways are often successful in finding work. This can often happen during the program. Students are given assistance in the preparation of a professional resume, an insight into ways of finding work including the hidden job market, and preparation for job interviews. With increased confidence and knowledge, plus the ability to identify their own skills, students are more able to find and maintain employment. For those planning further studies, the positive experience of study gained in the PEET program means that they are more likely to consider a broader range of study options. Other outcomes frequently include a positive shift in identity to students, increased self-esteem and motivation, as well as the reward of successful completion and graduation.

Outcomes include:
  • breaks down barriers to participation in TAFE and Further Education
  • positive education experience
  • often first qualification ever completed
  • increased feeling of self worth and confidence gained through identifying own skills and abilities
  • positive relationships with staff and fellow students
  • viable pathways to education and employment developed
  • teamwork skills and cooperative attitude developed
  • skills to get and job and keep it
  • awareness of opportunities for further study
  • possible reduction in antisocial behaviours
